A tear trough is a deep crease between the lower eyelid and upper cheek. It can sometimes cast a shadow below your eyes, resulting in a tired appearance. Some people think their tear troughs make them look older. In certain individuals, tear troughs are an inherited trait. In others, tear troughs become more prominent with age. That’s because facial tissues lose volume as you get older.
The goal of a tear trough filler is to reduce the depth of a tear trough. A trained medical professional injects a dermal filler into the area, making the skin look fuller and tighter. It’s a nonsurgical method of facial rejuvenation.
Tear trough fillers are a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment. It involves numbing the tear trough area with a topical anaesthetic and then injecting the area with hyaluronic acid gel, which works to boost collagen production and replace the lost volume brought about through the ageing process.
Tear trough filler treatment is not usually reported to be very painful by patients of this procedure. The small injections can cause some discomfort, but the pain is minimal. Many patients report that the treatment is less painful than they expected.

Tear trough fillers are an excellent way to treat dark circles, eye bags and under-eye hollows. If your eye bags are very severe (more than you can see in our before and after pictures) you may want to consider a blepharoplasty.
